I can’t believe another year is drawing to a close. Every year I think about how fast the past year has flown by, but this year in particular stands out because it brought so many significant changes in my life: finding out that we were going to have our first child; looking for a new house; packing and moving while pregnant (that was crazy!) and of course the complete shift of focus to feeding and caring for a newborn – I had no idea if PhotoBookGirl could successfully make the transition to PhotoBookMom. No doubt, I was going to have a lot less time to devote to making photo books, not to mention writing my long winded reviews, and despite my best efforts to stockpile a bunch of posts, that never manifested itself. And then when the whirlwind nine months was over, finally gazing at my little guy and seeing his eyes lock onto mine, it crossed my mind that I may not want to take the time away from him to keep this blog going.
But, at heart I can’t deny how much I enjoy the creative outlet I’ve found in making photo books (now of my new favorite subject) and connecting with the readers of my blog. When I started this site, being that writing for it involves a solitary night sitting in front of the computer, I had no idea I’d hear from and interact with so many folks every day. And can you imagine me, big belly in my hospital gown, typing away on my laptop while my contractions set in? Yes I kid you not!
Through this all, I have been so fortunate to have a supportive husband (and now amazing father) who encouraged me to start this site in the first place, and our families who helped us out when we both couldn’t tell night from day. But the person I suppose we have to thank most is PhotoBookBaby who now sleeps ten to twelve hours straight most nights! (woohoo!) How we were so fortunate for this to happen to us is such a big blessing!
On that note, I bid a fond farewell to 2011 and forge ahead with all my dreams and plans for Photobookgirl.com and my wonderful family in 2012!
Happy Holidays everyone!
Congratulations on your crazy-busy year! I also had my first baby this year and your site has given me the motivation to start putting together my photo books now. (I’m currently doing my maternity photos before my free 8×8 from ArtsCows expires. Hurry!!)
Yes, I haven’t touched my maternity photos yet other than my baby shower books – I’m doing a pregnancy journal and am only in the phase of compiling photos. I made the grandparents books of my son for Christmas, so I have a number of baby books already – need to go backwards! Best of luck on your photobooking!
I found your blog just yesterday while I was researching what to do with photos from a trip to Australia. I can’t believe what a wealth of information you are sharing, in such a creative and useful way! You are downright amazing.
I sure wish I had access to this about 26 years ago!
Thank you for sharing your hard work!
Best wishes for the new years ahead
Robin, thanks for your message – I enjoy working on my blog and glad you’ve found it helpful. Did you see my honeymoon books to Australia? Here’s one on making your own photo book layouts in external software and another Australia/New Zealand photo book that I made. All my travel photo books are here. Best of luck on your book!
Aww, I love this post! Congrats on becoming PhotoBookMom and I heart PhotobookBaby! 🙂
Thanks Kat! 🙂
Congratulations on becoming PhotoBookMom! And I can completely relate to your crazy year. 2009 was my year like that (2nd baby born when my 1st was only 17 months old, moved while pregnant, and lots of other crazy stuff). I feel like I finally have time to focus on myself once in a while. This past year, I’ve enjoyed learning about photography and this next year, I plan to make lots of photo books. 🙂
Thanks Cindy! I’m excited to make more photo books of PhotoBookBaby! 🙂
