Happy first day of autumn! Colors have not peaked or even started yet in my area but regardless of higher than normal September temps, the autumnal equinox happens when it’s going to happen. Time stops for no one! So, now that we know fall is officially here, when can we expect our green giants to show off some amazing colors? Using forecasts and historical data from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, SmokyMountains.com has provided a great tool for predicting fall colors on its website. Just drag the nifty slider to see when foliage hues are expected to change. While no predictor is 100% accurate it can give you some guidance as to when to plan that road trip!

Here are a few favorite shots of mine from last year. These were taken in Door County, Wisconsin in mid to late October.

Just seeing these photos again makes me anticipate the fun we should be seeing in the next month! Happy photographing!
Nice Door County photos! We live in Green Bay, so are close by. We went to my home state of Maine in October and got some wonderful New England fall colors. Can’t wait to get them in books.
I’ve always wanted to visit Maine and the surrounding area. We almost planned a trip to Acadia last year but I couldn’t get away for too long so we had to plan for a closer destination. I’m sure you took some amazing photos! Thanks for commenting!
