Happy fall! Are the leaves changing color in your neck of the woods yet? I’m envisioning my family visiting a local pumpkin patch, enjoying bumpy hayrides, breathing in the crisp autumn air and sipping on hot spiced cider. I’m really looking forward to capturing photos of my two boys’ having a grand old time running around and just enjoying being kids.
But wait, I’m getting way too ahead of myself – what happened to summer? As my family’s self-appointed historian, I feel like I’m always living a bit in the past, always playing catch up on our photo book projects. This past summer we took two vacations. Our first was to Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota and the second was to New York City. And I have no qualms admitting that I haven’t made any attempts to put together photo books on those trips yet. In fact I’m really behind. But, I don’t let that get to me. They will get done at some point. Our memories do not have expiration dates!
What I’d like to do is help our readers get those summer projects off the ground (or whatever projects you have in the wings). So, what better way to do that than to have a GIVEAWAY!
When I teased this giveaway on my Facebook page recently, I was encouraged to see a lot of excitement. We haven’t had a giveaway since the spring so I guess you were all wondering when we’d have another one right? Well the wait is over!
WHAT YOU CAN WIN
For our Fall Giveaway we’re fortunate to have Mixbook sponsoring some awesome prizes.
THREE $100.00 PRIZES to spend at Mixbook!
Yup! Three winners will be drawn!
What I love about Mixbook giveaways is they generously allow winners to combine their credits with any ongoing promo that Mixbook is running. For example, Mixbook’s current featured PhotoBookGirl reader deal is 40% off photobooks (and 30% off everything else), so if you were to order your photo books now, it means you could stretch your credit to a value of $166.00!
How you choose to spend your prize is up to you. Photo books are of course my favorite, but Mixbook has a great selection of photo cards, stationery, canvas and acrylic prints and calendars. If you’ve been following my site, you probably know I’m a huge fan of Mixbook’s calendars and I’ve made everyone in my family a personalized calendar every year. This year will be number seven!
What I like about Mixbook:
- The software is very user friendly, intuitive and resides online. Once you upload your photos, you can work on it from any computer. You’re not chained to your desk and can work on it anywhere you have an internet connection;
- You can put anything just about anywhere. You can even design across the center spread which gives you a lot more design options;
- The clip art is well-designed. There is a lot of variety and you can easily load your own graphics to use within the software;
- Their pre-made themes offer a lot of options with something for everyone from traditional to modern. I’ve often picked one as a starting point for my books. I can always delete, move, resize anything in the design. It’s the best of both worlds – I don’t have to start a book from scratch and I have the ultimate flexibility to change it up;
- Fun options like drop shadows, borders, transparency adjustments are all available;
- Collaboration is a built-in feature. You can invite friends to upload photos and make edits to a joint project. I did a cookbook project with my friends and we had a great time doing it!
- The flexibility in design is available in Mixbook’s cards and calendars as well. I like being able to take one of Mixbook’s fully-designed cards and then change anything to fit my needs;
- Books come in square, landscape and portrait orientation and lay flat albums are available too. One of my favorite types of books to make are portrait books, which are not a common offering.
I recently noticed that Mixbook’s website has a new design, new logo and new features. If you haven’t visited Mixbook recently, you might want to check it out. Here’s some of the interesting NEW options:
- Mixbook now offers Pearl Finish paper – which gives off “a pearlescent lustre” which “adds a touch of sheen and silky feel”. I haven’t tried this yet, but I definitely will;
- Magnet cards look to be a new product;
- Mixbook has added Pearl Finish, Cotton Texture and Luxe Board papers to their original Satin Finish and Signature Matte options for custom cards. Foil cards are also now available;
- Some new designer themes are available. I love checking out new designs.
There were several themes I think would work great for our summer vacations, but these in particular look very much on point.

I would make a 4th year photo book of my grandson’s 4th year of life. I have done one each year since birth.
I would probably use it to make special cards for orphans in Kenya at an orphanage we visit almost yearly. It is their custom to give “Success” cards (from family) when they take the 8th and 12th grade mandatory state exam. As these orphans don’t have anyone to send them cards and I don’t know where to buy the card except over there, I make them! (Anyone want to help, I’d take that help. The number of students is growing every year. Up to almost 90 this year and that gets pricey 🙂 )

I’m an avid traveler (international and domestic) and I enjoy taking my toddler on these trips. I make a photo book for every trip and display it on my coffee table. I’ve been struggling to make my Australia/New Zealand and Japan book because I’m not happy with the current themes available on other sites. I’m really loving the travel themes on Mixbook and would love to have a refreshingly new theme to work with!
I may even consider getting a canvas with international scenery pictures we’ve captured. Nice conversation starter to tell a story about our trips.

I just recently used Shutterfly to make a photo book. I have been a My Publisher user so the plunge to Shutterfly was hard. I liked the fact that there was no need to install a software and that I could easily upload my pics. I love the fact that coupons could be stacked. I used unlimited pages and a 40% off coupon so it was very affordable. I wish I could have chosen glossy paper. It was not an option for me.
If I won, I would love to try Mixbook out for a photo book I am planning for Christmas for my husband. I typically use shutterfly for their coupon codes and love the look of mixbooks new themes!

Already a subscriber to your newsletter – have been for a couple of years. This is how I found out about this giveaway!
If I won the MixBook credit, I would make a 2014, 2015, 2016 “Year in Review” family happiness photo album that compiles my family’s photos for the year. I will make 6 books in total as I have 2 young children and I want a duplicate book for each to have when they grow up. I am excited to try the new pearl finish.
This one is easy.. when I first discovered you I went to Mixbook and started an Album… I am a Digi scrapper and had pages already done… I chose a lay flat album and to my dismay, they only hold 99 pages… So I had to split my pages into 3 albums… 2 have been completed, but the 3rd is still waiting, so of course I would use it to order my album #3 for 2015…. These albums are expensive even with discount coupons.. To win, would be so great!

I remember now what I hate about Mixbooks! Their ‘deals’ are so false! I you go up on this very page and look at their offer,
https://www.photobookgirl.com/go/Mixbook
it is so, so, so, misleading and plain false. It says 50% off order over $125. Neither code in that little box gave you any such thing. I feel like crying right now. I got a lousey 34.006something % off! My order was, before taxes, shipping or anything else $124.50 so I ordered a print – $0.99 making my total $125.49. With that, I got 33% off! Plus they increased shipping from $11.93 to $17.92!!! I think they need to be called for false advertising. Anyone else in this with me? Don’t know who is responsible, Mixbook or Photobookgirl but someone got it wrong. Were they hoping we wouldn’t do the math? Was it just a mistake? Will they honor it? I took a screen shot of the ad. Hopefully, someone will be honest. I’m ready to take all my business somewhere else for good. So sorry!
Just reach out to the company. They should be able to fix it for you if it’s a glitch.

I have memory problems and I am the family historian and so all photos from many family members have been passed on to me. Since I don’t know when the memory issues will get so bad that I won’t be able to do books, I’ve worked really hard this year and have completed many. I haben’t even wanted to count how many are ready to go but I did today. 34. I keep hoping Mixbook will offer an unlimited pages deal or some other fantastic promotion 🙂 I plan to do 10 for Christmas.
