A mother is a person who, seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. — Tenneva Jordan
Photo Book Ideas for Mom
Making a photo book doesn’t mean you have to stare at a blank page and start from scratch. I’ve taken a survey of the pre-made themes offered by several photo book companies and come up with some of my favorite photo book ideas for Mother’s Day 2014! I can guarantee you it will be a big hit with Mom!
#1. Family Cookbook
How about a cookbook filled with Mom’s, Grandma’s and the whole family’s best recipes? This would make for a great gift for the Mom who loves to cook (and eat).
#2. Family History
Family history books can focus on mom’s story – her childhood, school days, marriage and children, or you can go higher up the tree and start with mom’s parents or grandparents. It’s always fun to look back at those fashionable hairdos!
#3. Pick An Event
You can also focus on a single event such as Easter, Spring Break, family reunion or family vacation to help narrow down the photos from which you have to select. These themes are more photo focused and let the pictures tell the story.
#4. Year in Review
A popular topic for photo books is always the Year in Review book. Highlight the best photos from the past year.
#5. It’s All About the Grandkids
If your mom is a grandmother, you know that nothing would make her happier than a photo book full of photos of the grandkids.
#6. Mother’s Day Themes
There are specific Mother’s Day themed books available. Many feature appropriate quotes about mom and offer mom-themed clip art.
Other Custom Gift Ideas for Mom
Admittedly, though I live in Photobookland, I realize there are other customized gift options.
Calendars are a big favorite in my family, and nowadays since you can start your calendar on any month you choose, they can be given year round. You’ll usually find some great deals on calendars this time of year too, so that can be an added bonus.
Canvas prints also make for an awesome gift. If you’re finding time is tight, making a single canvas is quicker to make than a book and with all the canvas deals out there, you’re bound to find a deal. Check out all the canvas groupon deals here!
Custom pillows can also make for a unique gift. Perhaps a collage of the grandkids, a photo of Fido or a her monogram may be just right for mom.
Custom Stationery is a chic option. Because so much of our communication is online now, the written letter or note stands out. Give mom her own personalized set.
