How’s your 365 day project going? Week 1 down, 51 to go! In reviewing the week, some days’ photos turned out better than others. But, it’s all about gaining experience and exploring my photography, so there will be lessons learned along the way. I do find that it becomes my “stop and smell the roses” moment of the day, where I take some time out my busy day to think creatively, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Some days I find I’m recording the mundane and other days I’m more inspired.
The photo I like best from this week is Day 7 – the photo of PhotoBookBaby’s pajamas hanging on the closet door. While rocking him for his morning nap, I happened to look over at his outfit hanging on the closet door. I saw the filtered light coming in through the window and liked the contrast of the dark doors and the light outfit. I took the shot with my camera phone first, but then grabbed my DSLR after baby went down and quietly moved about the room being careful not to wake him up. As it turned out I liked one of the earlier iPhone shots best. In fact, I only grabbed my DSLR once this whole week and as it ended up, all of the shots I chose were taken with my iPhone 4. This “still life” photo was shot as-is except for removing the hanger as it didn’t look good in the photo. I took several shots but picked this one that had a little of the carpet border in the photo for some texture and color. I then decided to post-process through an Instagram filter to give it a little more pop. And there you have week one, shot and in the can!
