Tiny Prints Cyber Monday

April showers bring May photo books?  Sorry, couldn’t resist…I know it’s not quite April yet, but it matched today’s Save-A-Dollar image.  (This is another fun photo effect from Photofunia by the way.)

Today’s deal is from Mixbook.  After visiting Mixbook’s site for the first time to try their online software, I’m looking forward to creating one of their photo books.  If I had to use one word to describe Mixbook’s software, that would be “customizable“.  Out of the printers that I’ve been reviewing thus far, this book creation software by far is the most flexible.  Their available themes are not as cheesy looking as the other companies and you can mix and match backgrounds and embellishments (called “stickers”) from one theme to another and also customize their size and transparency.  You can also upload your own backgrounds and stickers to the program as well.  Mixing of the themes themselves is also possible – so you’re not locked into a specific theme and you can delete or add anything to a page for a complete custom look.

The two-page spread is also easily implemented (using a single photo to span two pages) and you can place any item across the gutter (the center of the book where the two pages meet) without any issue.  While I don’t know at this point how much of the image will be lost in the gutter, the fact that you can place things across the gutter was surprising to me.

With all the do-dads, backgrounds and customization, Mixbook seems to be most similar to digital scrapbooking.  So, if you like to have tons of options for adding cute boxes, shapes, stickers and tags and layering to your hearts content, you may like this printer.

I wasn’t able to find too much online showing the quality of their printing, so I guess I’ll just have to try it and share that with you later.

What’s good is that Mixbook is currently giving 15% off photobooks through March 31st.  If you don’t catch that deal in time and you are a new customer, you can get a FREE book when you buy a book. That would make a nice present for Easter or Mother’s Day gift which is coming up on May 9th. It would be nice to give a copy to mom and keep one for yourself! The BOGO free deal ends 4/1 so you have to act fast!

Let me know how your book turns out…
