Happy New Year folks! I’ve been a bit overdue in writing my first post of the year, but be assured – I’ve got lots of fun things in store for this coming year! So, what have I been up to lately?
PARTYING IN VEGAS!
This year my husband and I went with a big group of friends to ring in the New Year on the Strip. Yes, it was a bit crazy, and unseasonably cold for Vegas, but it was fun and we found a great perch for the countdown – poolside on the roof of the brand new Cosmopolitan Hotel. A huge screen broadcast the Jay Z – Coldplay concert that was taking place inside and at midnight about 6 or 7 hotels shot off fireworks all up and down the strip. I love fireworks, so that was definitely a treat!
Speaking of traveling, have you seen my Travel photo book page?
Despite being in Vegas, I didn’t forget about you! I was still checking in and updating my Facebook Fans on all the deals and goings on… I also managed to take some time out from giving all my money to the Wheel of Fortune slot machines, to write my first guest post!
Be on the lookout for my upcoming post at the Better Life Blog. If you haven’t checked out this awesome and creative blog associated with Etsy shop Better Life Bags, you definitely should. Rebecca’s handmade purses and other items are very unique, plus a portion of the proceeds of Better Life Bags goes to benefit low-income entrepreneurs all over the world. I’ll be sure to tell you when my guest post goes up!
PHOTO BOOK MAKING!
I was also very busy finishing up 3 photo books. Right before the New Year, I completed my Mixbook digital cookbook project and I finally finished up my family’s photo books of their trip to Asia (You know the trip I dubbed, “My Family Went All Over Asia and All I Got Was This Lousy Assignment to Make A Photo Book”) They traipsed all over Beijing, Bangkok, Seoul, Siem Reap, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur – I’m sure I’m forgetting one of the exotic locales…
My brother inundated me with several hundred photos and even after whittling that number down, it became quite certain that I could not fit all the photos that I wanted into one book. So I made Mom a two-volume set! This was only the second time I needed to break up a trip into several books. My first multi-volume project was my set of honeymoon photo books. I decided to print these with MyPublisher and try out their lay-flat feature. They should arrive in a few days. Be on the lookout for my upcoming post, getting in-depth into my thought process on photo book layouts!
NEW FLICKR GROUP!
Some of you may know that I’m on Flickr. I decided to start a new Flickr group - “Photo Book Design – Layouts & Ideas”. I thought it would be a great place for members to upload their photo book layouts so we could share and exchange ideas. You can sign up for a free Flickr account and join the group. It’s all free… I look forward to seeing your designs!
Here’s to a fun-filled 2011!
